Salon Vintage et Technique Nieuwleusen -22/02/2024. Le BRICASCIENCES des Pays Bas !
Following the success of the first edition in February of this year, organizer Gerard Oortwijn and Kulturhus De Spil have begun preparing the second edition of the Vintage and Technology Fair in Nieuwleusen. This event will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Kulturhus De Spil in Nieuwleusen.
As in the first edition, both halls of De Spil will be filled with stands offering a unique experience centered around technological and electronic nostalgia, mainly focused on sound recording and broadcasting devices. The concepts of “vintage” and “technology” will be interpreted broadly, allowing for a wide variety of exhibitions, including nostalgic radios, gramophones and vinyl records, antique technical toys, clocks, steam machines, and other electrical devices.
The fair, officially named Vintage en TechniekNL, was held for the first time in Nieuwleusen last year, following in the footsteps of the famous Techno Nostalgica, a radio fair previously held in Emmen. After the pandemic, this event was not revived, allowing Oortwijn to bring the fair to Nieuwleusen with the agreement of the original Emmen organizers. Most exhibitors—coming from all over the country as well as from Germany and Belgium—followed the move, and both sports halls of De Spil quickly filled up for the first edition. A similar turnout is expected this year.
The first edition attracted around a thousand visitors from across the country and even from abroad. They explored the offerings of nearly a hundred exhibitors spread across 120 tables, covering a total length of 480 meters.
Registrations Now Open
Registrations are now open. Exhibitors can sign up by sending an email to info@vintageentechnieknl.nl. The fair will open its doors on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 9:30 AM, but exhibitors will be able to set up their stands on the preceding Friday and even on Saturday morning, up to half an hour before opening. As many exhibitors travel from afar, there are numerous accommodation options nearby. The venue is easily accessible from the A28 highway and offers plenty of free parking spaces. Loading and unloading can even be done right in front of De Spil’s entrance.
Partners and Participants
Many partners and participants from the first edition will return this year. The association De Weergever will have an information stand. Specialists from the Nederlandse Vereniging Historische Radio’s (NVHR) will offer repairs for tube radios and amplifiers brought in by visitors. The Nederlands Grammofoongenootschap will provide entertainment, while Tim de Wolf, an expert in audio archaeology, will demonstrate disc engraving. The Stichting Beeld en Geluid will showcase historical equipment from the Hilversum broadcasting museum.
Gerard Oortwijn and De Spil are organizing this event with the help of numerous volunteers, many of whom are associated with the National Gramophone Museum in Nieuwleusen, though the museum is not an official partner of the event. The museum, located less than a kilometer from the fair, will also be open all day, allowing visitors to combine their trip to the Vintage and Technology Fair with a tour of the museum.
