About us
Short news
Our objective is to contribute to the promotion of scientific heritage. The adventure began with the resumption of the exhibition of antiques and scientific curiosities. This show was the occasion for numerous meetings and highlighted several important points. First of all, there is a growing lack of interest in many places of scientific culture, leading to the closure of numerous sites and the dispersal of private collections during auctions, due to a lack of buyers among local communities. Then, it is a fact that the average age of collectors is getting higher and higher. Furthermore, young people, whose lack of interest in science and disaffection for scientific professions are often deplored, have few opportunities to meet science enthusiasts, take an interest in the evolution of techniques and discover the wonders of science, outside of scientific culture centers and large public establishments such as the Cité des Sciences and the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers in Paris, the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse or Electropolis in Mulhouse.
Faced with this context, we are initiating an approach in France that can be taken up in other countries. The aim is to create new opportunities for meetings by identifying events likely to promote science by listing exhibitions, conferences, tour proposals, and meetings with “mediator” people. The aim is to put potential visitors (young people, schoolchildren, families) in contact with small private museums or collectors in a nearby area, and to provide educators and cultural managers with a set of resources: scientific activities, exhibitions, conferences, workshops. This is based, of course, on the desire of collectors to take on this role of mediator by placing objects in their evoked context in a transversal manner. It is possible to go beyond a strictly technical framework to address various themes (design, economics, manufacturing processes, materials, etc. can be angles of approach) without forgetting to highlight men and women. women who developed these techniques. The important thing is often to tell a story!.
